Maharashtra Weather – Many districts to witness heavy rains as IMD issues Red, Orange and Yellow alerts

Maharashtra Weather – As people celebrate Independence Day, IMD forecast indicates heavy rains across most of the districts in Maharashtra starting 15-16 August and lasting till next few days.

Raigad has been placed under red alert for heavy to extremely heavy rain on August 16 and the rest of Konkan districts, including Mumbai and Thane, are placed under orange alert for very heavy rains between 16th to 19th August.
Heavy rain is also predicted in Pune during the same period and the ghats of Pune, Kolhapur and Satara have been placed under orange alert for very heavy rains.
Similarly, all other districts of the state, barring Solapur, Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara, have been placed under orange or yellow alerts.

Residents are advised to exercise utmost caution, especially due to Independence Day long weekend leading to outdoor activities and venturing out on highways and near water bodies. Lightning, gusty winds, landslides and sudden flooding risks have increased due to such weather forecast.
