Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol announced that he had a successful meeting with all the stakeholders to finalize the transfer of 13 acres of land from Air Force to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) by October this year.

The land will be used to construct five new parking bays and three remote bays, helping the airport handle more flights smoothly. The minister confirmed that the land transfer will take place within two months after which construction work will begin immediately.

The additional parking bays will ease congestion at Pune International Airport. Arriving aircraft will be allotted parking bays quickly, ensuring quick turnaround of flights. This addition in airport infrastructure will improve punctuality and allow more flights to operate from Pune Airport.

Mohol chaired a joint meeting on Friday with officials from the AAI, IAF, and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to review infrastructure around the airport. The discussion emphasized on widening and beautifying roads, developing footpaths, and preserving cultural heritage sites in the area.

The Defence Ministry has already granted permission to the PMC to carry out these works, which will make access roads to the airport more convenient and attractive. The meeting was attended by PMC Additional Commissioner Pradeep Chandran, Airport Director Santosh Dhoke, CADO Air Force officer Kuldeep Singh, City Engineer Prashant Waghmare, and Road Engineer Aniruddha Pawaskar.
